Harlan Swan

Many people find communicating with a medical professional in their own language a challenge let alone in a foreign one.

As a native English speaker in Vienna with 22 years of clinical experience and continuing professional development, you can relax knowing that you are in good hands.

My New Zealand training plus sporting background is a point of difference between myself and other physiotherapists and is recognisable in my treatment style and approach which typically consists of a combination of hands on techniques, exercise prescription and patient education.

As a sports obsessed teenager it was the frequent trips to physio that first sparked my interest in the profession. Today it is my ongoing involvement in rugby, snowboarding and downhill mountain biking which drives my appreciation for the importance of strength and physical conditioning in regard to both optimal function, injury prevention and recovery. My physiotherapy training and experience has also been vitally important in the maintenance of my personal health despite multiple injuries over the years and has played a key role in the development of my own physiotherapy practices.

I am a firm believer that keeping physically fit and active is the single most important thing we can all do to help maintain both physical and mental well-being. Keeping physically fit is essential in preventing many diseases, ensures we are able to do things we want to do, eat what we want to eat, live longer and experience greater satisfaction in life.

Pain and physical inabilities are the most common complaints in patients I treat. Being able to better understand the cause and meaning of our pain or disability is the key to it affective treatment and to the return to optimal health.

As a physiotherapist there is nothing more satisfying than helping my clients to regain, maintain or improve their health. So if you have pain or a physical problem, or simply wish to improve your health through personal training I would be more than happy to hear from you.
